While we aim to pray into all aspects of life in Clevedon, we consider these under 7 Topic headings, and thereby try to ensure that we do not only pray for those things which may be of particular interest to one individual or group. 

Seeing the impact of the Kingdom of God in these 7 areas of town life are crucial if we are to see our prayer come to pass; "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, in Clevedon as it is in Heaven". (For an explantion of why we use these particular topics, please see Q & A  further down this page)

When we gather, we try to focus on the larger picture. For example,  when praying into the topic of Religion, we might pray for the knitting together of the hearts of those who lead all the Christian churches in the town, that their unity may express the Kingdom of God and draw more to Him as they see His lovingkindness so expressed.

Question. Why do we use these particular Topics?

Answer. in the late 1970's, two Christian men met for lunch. Each man had been given a message by God and was compelled to share that message with the other man. As it turned out, God had separately given each man the same message! They both informed each other of the same message from God. The two men were Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, (or now AGAPE in the UK),  and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With A Mission. About a month later the Lord showed Francis Schaeffer the same thing.

The message was a vision of reclaiming society by focusing on 7 key areas that most influence a society's culture. One of the men referred to these 7 areas as "spheres of influence" while the other called them "mountains" or "mind-moulders." These 7 mountains are: arts/entertainment, business, education, family, government, media, and religion.
